The Hong Kong Prize is an annual award that recognizes academic articles that demonstrate superior standards in research, writing and presentation. The competition is open to both students and non-students; winners receive an engraved gold medal and cash prize of HK$25,000 for articles published within the last calendar year in scientific journals; interested students can submit their submission via an online application system or scan the QR code below.
Today (September 25) marked the 8th Inter-school Competition of Study Projects on Hong Kong History and Culture, co-hosted by the Museum of History and Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture. Winners were revealed during a ceremony. First prize went to “The Development of Pig Farming during the 1967 Riots,” Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School; second place went to Lui Cheung Kwong Lutheran College with their Project “Canton and Hong Kong: Relationship between China and Hong Kong;” while third prize went Carmel Pak U Secondary School with their project entitled “The Seamen’s Strike”.
Five scholars at Hong Kong universities were honored this week with the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2024, an esteemed award that is critical to its future tech innovation as well as economic transition in Hong Kong’s Special Administrative Region. Each winning researcher received HK$2 Million as prize money for breakthroughs made in AI/robotics/life/health research as well as new materials/energy research; advanced manufacturing; fintech; or advanced manufacturing techniques.
One person may win multiple awards if he or she submits two articles that meet criteria in one category; however, judges consider both articles collectively rather than judge individual authors; in addition, no single work can be entered for both Best Original Article and Best Student Article awards.
Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is now accepting nominations for the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, set to be presented during a ceremony in December. Nomination forms and supporting documents must reach HKADC by close of business on March 31.
This week’s Asian Tour event, the LINK Hong Kong Golf Championship returns to Hong Kong Country Club with an eye-popping $2m in prize money for both winners and runners-up. The winning player will earn two years’ membership of the Asian Tour while runners-up earn entry into next year’s HSBC Champions Tournament. It marks eight of this year’s elevated International Series events and will take place over a links course; LIV Golf Reserve Ben Campbell who won last week’s Ripper GC Open could add this trophy this week as he looks for victory on another links course – LIV Golf Reserve Ben Campbell was victorious last week; so hopefully he’ll add this trophy too.
