HKJC to Increase Prize Money for Chinese New Year Snowball Draw
On February 2nd, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) will provide a record first division prize fund of US$24 Million as part of their Mark Six Lunar New Year Snowball draw, and also include an extra snowball pool worth an additional HK$100 Million to augment this prize pool.
Next season, The Club’s domestic racing prize money will increase by eight percent across all classes of competition. Griffins races will carry at least HK$950,000 while Class 1 races over 1600m or longer will each carry an extra HK$2 million prize pool. Both the BMW Hong Kong Derby and Four-Year-Old Classic Series remain highly attractive contests that require significant financial investments by owners in order to enter their horses for these elite contests.
This year marks the fifth annual HK Prize and this year’s theme was “Innovative Solutions to Global Challenges.” A panel comprised of representatives from business, public, academic and non-government organization sectors judged all of the submissions received worldwide for consideration for this award; there was an array of creative submissions representing various nationalities that demonstrated just how diverse ideas can be submitted for consideration at any one time – which will all come together come May when one winner will be revealed!
