The Hongkong Prize is one of Asia’s coveted awards, honoring outstanding high school students for outstanding accomplishments and prowess. Open to students who exhibit outstanding talents both academically and extracurricularly – particularly those making significant contributions through social service – winners receive both monetary prizes as well as access to research facilities in Hong Kong.
The Hongkong Prize honors outstanding teachers each year, providing an opportunity to show their passion for teaching while contributing to the local community. Furthermore, it encourages students to remain enthusiastic about their studies and develop a sense of pride in Hong Kong as part of their studies.
This year’s Prize attracted applications from more than 2,700 high schools and over 4,000 students from ten categories of awards covering topics ranging from language to science and art. Form Five student Au Cheuk-yi from DGS was given an award worth HK$25,000 as the grand prize; she was praised for her passion for history as an essential aspect of education.
Ten Years has won this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards, surpassing several Hollywood blockbusters and even overshadowing a film about protester David Lam’s self-immolation outside the British Consulate in 2013. Ten Years won first prize in its feature film category thanks to its “sensational depiction” of Hong Kong life in 2025 and also took home best director and actor awards for writer-director Wong Kar-wai and singer Aaron Kwok respectively.

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is an independent merit-based scientific research award with a total value of HK$2 Million sponsored by The Bank of China (Hong Kong). Today at the Hong Kong Palace Museum will mark a ceremony to honour scientific researchers/teams with impactful and transformational potential, along with those that foster global humanist exchanges and drive synergistic regional development. 2023 laureates will be announced during this ceremony. The judging panel will consist of experts from both Hong Kong and overseas. The review process will be independent and objective, taking into consideration criteria such as research significance, potential for transformation, impact and social or economic value.
